Warrants
The Warrants Division is comprised of a Warrants Specialist operating under the leadership of the PSAP Supervisors, Communications Services Manager and Commander of Support Services.
The Warrants Division is responsible for:
Warrants
Extradition Coordination
Bail/Bond/Fine Processing
An arrest warrant is a written order issued and signed by a district court judge, directing law enforcement to apprehend, arrest, and bring the defendant before the court.
Warrants processed by the Carver County Sheriff's Office are issued by Carver County District Court [First Judicial District]. The Sheriff's Office does not issue warrants; the Sheriff's Office is responsible for processing and maintaining warrant data as required by State Statute.

Civil Arrest Warrants: Civil/Family/Probate Cases
- Bench Warrants are issued for non-criminal matters, to enforce judgements or court orders, and are used to ensure compliance with court decisions in matters such as Contempt of Court, Child Support, Conservatorships/Guardianships, and Debt Collection.
Effective January 1, 2024, Minn. Stat. § 629.415 provides that the court shall issue a Sign and Release Warrant if:
- the defendant is charged with a misdemeanor other than a targeted misdemeanor, or with a gross misdemeanor other than those excluded in the statute;
- the court mailed a summons that was returned as undeliverable;
- the defendant fails to appear; and
- the defendant had not previously failed to appear in the case
A Sign and Release warrant does not authorize arrest. Instead, when law enforcement has contact with a defendant who has a Sign and Release warrant, law enforcement will get an updated address from the defendant, complete the Sign and Release Warrant Court Date and Defendant Information Form, give a copy of the form to the defendant which lists a new court date, release the defendant at the scene, e-file the form with the Court and clear the warrant.
For more information about your case(s), including court location, contact the court (go to https://www.mncourts.gov/find-courts.aspx and select the county in question) or search online using the Court File Number(s) at https://www.mncourts.gov/Access-Case-Records/MCRO.aspx
When an arrest warrant is issued, deputies and officers attempt to locate and arrest the person, bringing him or her to justice.
By statute, the sheriff is required to "pursue and apprehend all felons" [Minn. Stat. § 387.03]. As a result, law enforcement agencies collaborate to seek out the most dangerous fugitives to bring them to justice.
Arrest warrants are an effective tool to keep communities safe, hold offenders accountable and ensure justice.
If you have an arrest warrant, consider resolving your arrest warrant today.
If you know the whereabouts of someone who has an outstanding arrest warrant, please report it to local law enforcement.
