The internship program at Carver County Court Services is designed for students studying Corrections or Criminal Justice. The program helps students explore professional goals, gain experience in the field, and apply classroom learning in a real‑world setting. Our mission is to provide a supportive environment where students can learn, grow, and discover their career strengths.

Application Deadlines
• January 31 for internships beginning in June
• May 31 for internships beginning in September
• September 30 for internships beginning in January
Internship Requirements
• Must be enrolled at a four‑year college or university
• Internship must be required for graduation
• Student must be within one year of graduation
• Commitment of 400 hours (32–40 hours per week)
• Internship is unpaid
Learning Opportunities
Interns may have the opportunity to:
• Work with both adult and juvenile probation agents
• Observe court hearings and learn about the roles of justice system professionals
• Assist with report writing, client interviews, risk/needs assessments, restitution investigations, and special projects
• Learn about client supervision in areas such as pre‑trial release, multiple DWI cases, and traditional caseloads (high‑ and low‑risk)
• Support office staff with daily tasks
• Participate in training opportunities when available, including cognitive skills groups
