Urgent Notice for SNAP and MFIP Applicants

The ongoing federal government shutdown may have significant impacts for families and individuals who depend on food and cash benefit programs.

Beginning on Oct. 16, pending applications for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) cannot be approved by Carver County Health and Human Services (CCHHS) until further notice. If the federal government shutdown continues into November, the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) will not issue November SNAP (food assistance) benefits to recipients.

CCHHS will continue to accept and process the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) applications until Oct. 28.  If the federal government is still shut down on Oct. 29, CCHHS will be unable to approve MFIP (food and cash) applications, and the Minnesota DYCF will not issue November MFIP benefits to recipients.
