Child Care Assistance - Carver County
Child Care Assistance helps families with low income pay for childcare. This allows parents to work, go to school, or look for a job. The program is funded by the state and federal government.
Income Eligibility
- MFIP families: income at or below 67% of exit level for household size.
- All others: income at or below 47% of entrance level.
- Check eligibility with DHS-6413M
- Some families may need a small co-payment.
Who Qualifies
- Families enrolled in the Minnesota Family Investment Program or Diversionary Work Program.
- Families in transition who had MFIP for at least 3 of the last 6 months.
- Low-income families not in MFIP or DWP may qualify for Basic Sliding-Fee Assistance (limited funds).
- If you are on a waitlist, you will get a letter by mail.

Providers
- Pays licensed childcare centers or registered family providers.
- Can cover legal, unlicensed providers over 18 who pass a background check (fee applies).
