About Us

The Carver County Board of Commissioners started the Office of Aging in 2007. Our job is to help create a county where people can live for a lifetime.

Carver County is growing fast. The number of people aged 65 years and older will rise from about 5,200 in 2000 to almost 25,000 by 2030. That means nearly 1 in every 4 Carver County residents will be over 65 years in 2030.

Most of these older adults are Baby Boomers (born between 1946 and 1964), with Gen X (born between 1965 and 1980) quickly joining their ranks. These generations want something different than past generations. They want to live longer, stay active, and be part of a strong, lively community with lots of choices for everyone.

Preparing for a Thriving Aging Community

At Carver County's Office of Aging, we want Carver County to be a great place for older adults to live and thrive. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. We work with cities across Carver County to make sure older adults feel connected and supported throughout their aging journey. We are advocates for resources, programming, and education for our 55+ community.

Key roles of the Office of Aging include:

  • Plan for the future so older adults can age well in Carver County. That includes issues like housing, transportation, safety, and caregiver support.
  • Work with residents, cities, businesses, and community groups to build age-friendly communities.
  • Share ideas and resources to provide opportunities for older adults to stay active and involved.
  • Support city Commissions on Aging to address the specific needs of older adults in our cities.

Why This Matters

Older adults shape our economy, influence social trends, and make our communities stronger. By planning ahead and listening to their voices, we can make Carver County a welcoming, age-friendly place for generations to come.
