The Carver County Follow Along program is a free program for children from birth to age 3. Babies and young children grow and learn at different speeds. Some children may need extra help to stay healthy and learn skills like sitting, walking, or talking. The Follow Along Program helps parents track their child's development and learn if their child is growing, playing, talking, moving, and behaving like other children the same age.

How does the Follow Along Program Work?

  • You receive questionnaires when your child reaches certain ages: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 30, and 36 months. Each questionnaire asks how your child is growing, playing, talking, moving, and behaving.
  • You will receive the results after you return each questionnaire. If there are questions or concerns, a nurse will contact you to talk about next steps and ideas you can try with your child at home.
  • You will also receive activity handouts for each questionnaire you return. Additional resources can be shared upon request.

If you have concerns about your child's development, Help Me Grow offers parents a one-stop resource for early childhood development and can connect your family to helpful resources and services.

Carver County Public Health also provides information on child development, health, safety, reading, and parenting. The Family Resource Guide (Español) is available to help families find more resources and supports. Call us at (952) 361-1329 if you need help or would like more information.
