Public health data helps communities understand health trends, find differences between groups, and make decisions based on evidence. These decisions can lead to better health for everyone. Below are reliable places to find information about the health of Carver County residents.

Carver County Open Data Portal

Carver County has an Open Data Portal, which includes data like voting precincts, flood zones, addresses, parks, land use, fire districts, childcare centers, trails, and other information.

Community Health Assessment and Improvement Planning

Every five years, Carver County Public Health completes a Community Health Assessment (CHA) to help people understand the overall health of Carver County residents and the factors that affect their health. This includes information such as birth and death data, infectious disease rates, and chronic disease statistics. It also includes data on the conditions that shape health, like poverty, housing, income, race and other important factors.

Information collected through the CHA is used to develop the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). The CHIP is created through a community-led process and outlines steps to improve the health of Carver County residents. Visit the Minnesota Department of Health's About the Local Public Health Assessment and Planning Cycle web page to learn more.

County Health Rankings & Roadmaps

County Health Rankings & Roadmaps (CHR&R) is a program of the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, which compares the health of counties across the United States. It shows how well counties are doing in areas like length of life, quality of life, education, income, house, and access to care. The rankings help communities understand what affects people's health and where improvements can be made. You can review Carver County's datasets on the CHR&R website.

Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development

The Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) provides a wide range of information on factors that influence health, such as employment and unemployment, cost of living, racial disparities, and the local economy. DEED also offers a helpful summary of data for each county.
