Candidate Filing and Campaign Information:

When and Where to File in 2024:

Candidates for county offices may file beginning May 19 through June 2, 2026, with the Carver County Elections Department, Carver County Government Center, 600 E 4th St, Chaska, MN.  Normal business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on June 2 to accept candidate filings. Candidates for state and judicial offices that live in Carver County may file during this same period of time, either at the county offices or at the offices of the Minnesota Secretary of State, Veterans Service Building, 20 W 12th St, Saint Paul MN 55155.

Filing fees are as follows:

•  United States Representative: $300
•  Governor, Lt Governor, Attorney General, State Auditor and Secretary of State: $300
•  State Senator or Representative: $100
•  Judicial Officer: $300
•  County Commissioner, County Attorney and County Sheriff: $50
•  Carver County Soil & Water District Supervisor: $20

If filing at the Carver County Elections Department, filing fees may be paid by cash, check or credit card (No American Express).  

Candidates for township, city and school district offices will file with their respective local township, city or school district clerk.  The filing period for these offices will be July 14 through July 28, 2026.
