Schedule your passport application appointment at the Carver County Government Center.

Walk-in passport applications are accepted until 3:00 pm at the Chanhassen Service Center and is subject to staff availability. 

Due to federally mandated laws stipulating that not all types of services can be provided at one location. The Chaska License Center (DMV) cannot accept applications for passports.

Apply in Person

You may apply in person using the DS-11 form if at least one of the following is true:

• You are applying for your first U.S. passport
• You are under the age of 16 or your previous U.S. passport was issued when you were under the age of 16
• Your previous U.S. passport was lost, stolen or damaged
• Your previous U.S. passport was issued more than 15 years ago 

All applicants using the DS-11 must be present at their appointment (minors and adults). The DS-11 application requires two separate payments--one of the payments must be a check/money order.

Children Under 16:

• Both parents must be present
• Parents must have a valid driver's license
• For renewal, the birth certificate and previous passport are required

Passport Renewal:

You must renew your passport by mail or online. Complete the DS-82 form if the following are true about your most recent passport:

• Is undamaged other than normal wear and tear
• Was issued when you were age 16 or older
• Was issued with the last 15 years
• Was issued in your current name or you can document the change with an original or certified copy of our marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court order

Online Passport Renewals: Renew your passport online. You must provide a digital photo with the application. Digital photos are available at the Chanhassen Service Center and delivered via email. 

Photos: 

You may purchase passport photos at the Chanhassen Service Center and the Carver County Government Center.

• Walk-in photos are available at both locations
• The cost is $17
• The Chanhassen Service Center offers digital photos for online passport renewals for $17. The photo will be sent via email
• You do not need a separate appointment for a photo if you already have a passport appointment booked.  Federal photo requirements. 
• Cash, check, or credit card is accepted for photo fees

Processing Time:

Current processing Time: Four to Six weeks* 

Expedited Processing Time: Two to Three weeks*.  There are additional fees per application for this service.

Passport Fees:

Passport fees vary depending on the form you need to complete.

• You will need a separate check/money order for each passport application fee payable to U.S. Dept Of State
• The execution fee and photo fees can be paid as one payment with credit card, cash, or check/money order payable to Carver County. No Apply Pay
