Online
This site is available for current year and prior year tax payments. There are instructions available to help you navigate the payment system. Penalty on late tax payments begins the day following the due date and increases monthly. Check your statement for the actual due date of your payment. Payments are considered timely if processed by 11:59 p.m. on the due date. To avoid potential technical problems, it is best to pay prior to the due date and during business hours.
Per Minnesota law, a service fee is applied to each credit card transaction. The fees are charged and retained by a third-party vendor for online payments.
There is no service fee for e-Check payments. Please ensure you use an ACH eligible checking or savings account to prevent processing issues, penalties, or additional fees.
Credit and Debit Card payments have a service fee applied to the total payment amount.
When making your payment online, be sure to accurately key your account information to avoid returned payments which will result in additional fees and possible penalty.

Important Notes Regarding Payments
All checks must be written in blue or black ink to ensure proper processing. Any checks written in alternative ink colors may be rejected and could be subject to penalty and fees at the cost of the taxpayer.
Postmarks are required to prove timely property tax payments. The U.S. Postal Service processes postmark based on the date they receive it in their processing center. Envelopes are not postmarked at the local post office. To avoid late payments, mail your payment several days before the due deadline or bring the payment to the post office and ask for a manual postmark be added.
Penalty must be added to the unpaid amount if not received on or before the due date.
Penalty rates range from 2% to 14%. The later the payment the greater the penalty.
To avoid penalty:
Envelope must be postmarked on or before the due date. Only official U.S. postmark is used to determine payment mail date. Private postage machines will not be accepted. According to the U.S. Postal Service, if you need the postmark to reflect the same day, you must request it in person.
If using a bank's bill pay system, please verify mailing requirements to allow for timely receipt. Envelopes with payments sent from a bill pay system do not typically have a U.S. postmark. Payment must be received by the due date to be considered timely.
If using our online payment system or your bank's bill pay, make sure to accurately key all information. Incorrect entry could cause the payment to be delayed which could result in penalty.
Failure to receive a property tax statement does not exempt the taxpayer from timely payment of the taxes due. First half tax payments must be paid in full with applicable penalty prior to applying money toward second half payment. If you are unsure of how penalty is calculated or what is due, please contact us at custsvc@carvercountymn.gov or (952) 361-1910.
