What is zoning?

Zoning defines how land can be used, where and how development occurs, the population density of an area, and more. Standards for zoning are laid out in the zoning code. Zoning maps (below) provide visual guidance. Both cities and counties develop comprehensive plans and zoning standards and use these documents to set future direction.

In Carver County, the Land Management Department oversees zoning and policy area for all ten townships in the County.

The entire Carver County code or ordinances including zoning, is housed in the American Legal Publishing code library. You must search first by state and then by Carver County to gain access to the entire County code of ordinances.
