Located along the shores of Lake Minnewashta, Lake Minnewashta Regional Park spans 340 acres and offers opportunities for swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, paddling and year-round outdoor recreation.

The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Extended hours begin at 5 a.m. during the fishing season.

Trails and Nature

Lake Minnewashta Regional Park features approximately 5 miles of turf and natural-surface trails that wind through wooded areas, prairie habitats and lakeshore landscapes.

During the winter months, separate trails are groomed for walking and cross-country skiing.

Off-Leash Dog Area

The park's fenced, 18-acre off-leash dog area includes separate spaces for large and small dogs, along with approximately 1 mile of trails for dogs and their owners to enjoy.

Playground

The creative playground which opened in the Spring of 2025 offers a nature-inspired play experience designed to encourage imagination, exploration and active play.

Custom play features reflect the natural character of the park and provide opportunities for children of various ages and abilities.

Public Boat Access

A paved public boat access is available within the park.

Boat trailer parking is limited to 35 vehicle-trailer combinations. When the parking lot reaches capacity, additional watercraft launches are not permitted until a parking space becomes available.

Fishing from the boat access dock is prohibited under Carver County Park Ordinance 91.08.

Picnic Shelters

Four picnic shelters are available for reservation throughout the park.

Fishing Pier

The fishing pier is located west of the beach area and provides accessible access to Lake Minnewashta.

In addition to supporting fishing opportunities, the pier offers scenic lake views and a place to relax along the shoreline.

Little Free Library

Forgot a book for the beach or picnic area? Stop by the Little Free Library near the beach.

Visitors are welcome to borrow a book, exchange a book or return a borrowed book at a later visit.

Watercraft Storage Rental

Seasonal canoe and kayak storage racks are available for public rental from May 1 through Oct. 31.

The storage racks are located near the personal watercraft access area within the park.
