The 82nd Street (Highway 18) Project continues the  Arboretum Area Transportation Plan, connecting Highway 13 (Bavaria Road) to just west of Highway 41 to improve mobility for residents, businesses, and visitors.

The project converted the former gravel road to a two-lane paved highway and added a multi-use trail, improving safety, reducing congestion, and expanding connections to the Chaska Ravine Trail.

Work included roadway reconstruction, trail construction, environmental review, geotechnical analysis, and land acquisition.

Upcoming Bridge Repairs and Temporary Closure

Final bridge repair work is anticipated to begin in August, weather permitting. The bridge on Highway 18 (82nd Street) is expected to be closed for approximately two weeks while crews complete concrete repairs and allow time for curing. If work progresses ahead of schedule, the roadway may reopen sooner.

Advance warning signs will be installed before the closure begins, and a signed detour will be in place. The final construction schedule will be shared once it is confirmed.
